From forgotten outbuilding to thoughtfully designed living space.

What was once a tired, collapsing work shed tucked at the rear of an Epsom property has been reimagined as a beautifully detailed, self-contained unit — bringing new life and purpose to a neglected corner of the site.

The brief was simple but full of potential: create a flexible one-bedroom dwelling for extended family or rental income, while honouring the character of the original home. Clad in classic white weatherboards to match the main house, the new space feels cohesive and considered — more like a natural extension than an afterthought.

Inside, the compact floor plan includes a full kitchen, bathroom, and a light-filled living area — all carefully arranged to maximise functionality without compromising on comfort. The living space opens seamlessly to a sunny, north-facing deck and pool area, providing a private retreat that feels generous in scale despite its footprint.

This project is a testament to how smart design can unlock the value and versatility of underused spaces.
